Guidelines for Borrowing and Use

Welcome to the Monson Free Library’s Hotspot lending service. It is our mission to make information accessible to everyone.  Please read through this policy and sign the MFL Hotspot Agreement.

Who can borrow a Library Hotspot?

  • Any Monson Free Library card holder, 18 years and older, with a library account in good standing.
  • Patron must have a current photo ID to validate against patron record.
  • The Library reserves the right to refuse hotspot lending to any patron who abuses equipment or is repeatedly late in returning hotspots.
  • The check-out limit is one device per household at any tim

Where do I return the hotspot?

The hotspot must returned to the main desk inside the Monson Free Library. DO NOT place hotspot in book drop or return to another library.

How long can I keep the hotspot?

You can keep the hotspot for 2 weeks with no renewals.

What are the fines for overdue hotspots?

Fines are $1.00 per day and are capped at $10.00.   If a hotspot is not returned to the library when it is due, the wireless service will be disconnected and the hotspot will be unusable.  Fines will continue to increase up to $10.00 until the device is returned.

What happens if I lose the hotspot?

The borrower will be charged for the hotspot or accessory not returned to the library, or returned damaged.  Replacement costs:

Device:  $110.00

Charger/adapter:   $20.00

Case:  $10.00

Total for all items:  $140.00

The Library does not accept replacement items purchased by a patron in lieu of payment.

Note: International roaming is not available on library hotspots.
